Quality guardrails from a familiar supplier

Sandvik Mining and Construction is part of the Sandvik Group and a leading provider of equipment and services for the mining industry, with five manufacturing plants in various parts of Finland. The plant makes mining equipment, such as loading machines and dumpers for underground mines. Varax Solutions has been supplying this plant since 2011.

“Varax Solutions makes safety rails for our mining machinery. These rails help ensure safety when walking on or servicing the machine,” explains Sandvik Sourcing Manager.

Varax Solutions was already familiar to their buyer, and the company was therefore a natural choice as a contract manufacturer of guardrails.

“I knew Varax as a high standard engineering business from my previous work as Head of Quality Control at Tunturi cycles and fitness equipment. I contacted Varax myself when we realised the growing need for guardrails on our mining equipment.”

“We now design the guardrails for our mining equipment in-house, and then send the designs to Varax for manufacturing. We then jointly add any necessary finishing touches to make sure the guardrails are safe and the perfect fit.”
